Torquay

The English Riviera, examined closely and at some length.

The account

A coast that has been photographed to death and observed rather less. I spent four days on rockpools and one on a deckchair, and the deckchair produced the better notes.

The rockpools repaid the kneeling. One specimen catalogued properly, several others watched until the tide made the decision for me. I have written down the tide times and, beneath them, an apology to my knees.

One specimen, catalogued at low tide. The rockpools are not going anywhere, and neither, on that evidence, am I.
