Bashful Frog

Rana plushia verecunda

The meadow, late afternoon

A frog, entirely unbothered

Specimen at rest; correspondent consulting a map he had, on balance, been holding upside down.

From the notebook

A frog, sitting in meadow grass with the composure of something that has never once been late. I approached at what I judged a respectful distance and it did not move, which I have chosen to record as consent.

Habitat: damp, cheerful, thoroughly ordinary. Disposition: unhurried. I have catalogued it under Bashful, though it showed no evidence of that whatsoever.

— The Explorer, Field correspondent, Plush Explorer Society

Archivist's note

The correspondent's account records consent. The specimen was asleep.
