Living Nature Hedgehog
Specimen notes: tipped spines, an anxious brown face, feet that suggest somewhere better to be. The garden's most welcome visitor, rendered at rest rather than rolled up — a rare sight in the field.

What the Society noted
Caught at rest with the spines tipped pale, which is how you actually meet one, not rolled into a ball. Numbers have fallen hard in a generation — a gap under the fence and a dish of water do more for the real thing than any toy.
